Wow, the holidays are over already, I hope everyone had a wonderful holiday season!!
My Christmas was busy, but fun!

I completed this painting just before Christmas, it's been up on the website for a few days, but I was too busy to post anything here on my blog. It's a painting inspired by identical tattoos that me and my sister have on our wrists.

I have some exciting new products coming soon to my website.. stay tuned.. I will be posting more info in a few days.

Happy New Year everyone!! Wishing you lots of love and happiness in 2010.

Holiday artwork

Here's my latest two paintings, I've been working hard the last month painting as much as I can, I know my painting will slow down over the holidays. I'm really pleased with how my Angel of Christmas turned out, so I'll definitely be creating more angels in the future.
I'm currently working on a painting of an immortal being, I haven't decided if she's a witch or a vampire.. I may just leave it up to the viewer to decide. I may do one more winter themed painting before I start on a Valentine one.

Hope everyone is having a good time preparing for Christmas.. I've already got my Christmas lights up in the windows.. but I'm waiting a bit longer to put up our tree... it's really hard to keep our cat out of it. I've already baked some shortbread cookies.. and I hope there will be some left for Christmas.. they're just too good to stay out of .. hehe.

I'll have another new painting up in a day or two.. so bye for now ! :)

Play Dead

Ok.. so I guess I wasn't done being excited for Halloween after all... I got this idea partially from a nightmare I had when I was a child, where my favorite teddy bear came to life and was chasing me. Also I was talking to my sister in law about cute skull barrettes she had seen online, and it kind of got the wheels turning... so I came up with this idea, and I think I'm going to make a series out of it, called "Toybox Horrors".. I'll definitely be adding to the series every Halloween.. but I do often get the urge during the year to go to my dark side and let my imagination run wild.. so I'll probably be adding to it more than once a year!

Well on a personal note.., I've recently been feeling a whole lot better, I was suffering quite badly since last spring with very bad heartburn... not just regular heartburn, but everyday heartburn, which bothered me almost 24/7. I went to the doctor, was put on several different meds... then sent for a stomach x-ray.. they couldn't find anything. So I decided to completely change the way I eat... I cut out almost ALL the sweets in my diet (this was particularly hard for me since I have a sweet tooth the size of Mount Everest).... but I've been feeling so good since I changed my diet! I've hopefully also solved my jaw problem... I just got back from the dentist.. I got one of those mouth guards for at night... and hopefully that will get rid of the horrible clicking when I chew, and the headaches I've been getting.

I want to take this opportunity to thank everyone who's been buying paintings, prints and necklaces from my website.. I have the best family and friends a girl could ask for. The support from everyone is so appreciated!!
Special thanks to my friend Kelliena, she just purchased my original painting "Spring Fairy".
Kelliena is a great friend and she's also a gifted Psychic, she does readings at several places in Halifax,NS you can go to her website to see where she's reading on any given day (she also does phone readings). I'm an addict to her website, she has free daily horoscopes.. I check them every day :)

Well, I'm gonna spend a few more minutes tonight working on a new sketch... hopefully I'll be starting painting it tomorrow.

Halloween Magic

Halloween is one of my favorite times of year, and this latest painting is all about the magic of Halloween. It's been posted on my website for about a week, I've had a busy week, so I kind of forgot to post it in here.. oops!

The painting is of a fortune teller... my favorite Halloween costume when I was younger was when I dressed up as a fortune teller... although I looked nothing like this painting! I had a plastic bowling ball covered in foil and my mom's wedding shawl. It was a really fun night, and I dropped my "crystal ball" many times that night, but it was one of the more memorable Halloweens. When I think of Halloween I also think of magic.. because I've always felt like anything was possible Halloween night, you can be whoever you want to on Halloween night!!

I've recently bought a few house plants (we've lived in our house for 2 years with no greenery).. and I'm such an outdoorsy person, I love everything green... but I don't have much of a green thumb .. I killed a cactus once! So I was a bit reluctant to buy any more plants.. but I have 4 now.. and I've managed to keep them alive... one of them even bloomed!! My favorite is a passion vine, I love anything that grows wildly, like ivy.

I have a new option on my website now, I'm offering customized glass tile pendants.
All you have to do to get your own is send me an email of the photo you would like on the pendant (keep in mind the image will be cropped in a square shape) and I will modify the image to the right size and show you what it will look like on the pendant. Here's a look at a few custom necklaces I have done.

For more information about the custom jewelry please visit my site :)

Wow.. its been a while since I've written in my blog! The summer was so busy, we had a wonderful summer.. we went camping almost every weekend! I'm very excited, because I've finally finished my series of paintings of the four elements. The Earth Goddess isn't exactly the way I'd planned, but I had a lot of fun painting it.. well except for the massive amount of grass I had to paint.. ha ha.
On a personal note, I'm hoping to find out what's wrong with my stomach soon.. I've been having heartburn for months now.. and I've recently gone for an x ray.. hopefully I find out soon.. it's been a long time since I've felt 100 percent. Now I also have to make an appointment with a dentist.. I've had a clicking in my jaw for over a month, and now its getting louder and I've had bad migraines.. so I figure its probably time to get that checked out too.

Well , here she is.. the Earth Goddess, I'm now starting a Halloween themed painting.. I've already got it all sketched out. :)

Fire Goddess has been posted on my website for a few weeks.. and I just realized that I haven't added it here.. oops.. Summer is going by so fast, I just got back from a fantastic vacation with my husband, we went to visit a friend in Calgary, then spend 3 days traveling through the Rockies. We camped in Banff, and Jasper.. it was an incredible trip. I took many photos and now have lots more inspiration for future paintings.

I spent the last few nights working on several sketches for the Earth Goddess.. the final painting in my series of the four elements. I'm very pleased with one sketch and I've transferred it to watercolor paper.. so I'm all ready to paint!!

It's been a while!
I'm still working on the Fire Goddess, she's taking me a bit longer than I'd hoped, especially since I got so much done in the first few days of working on her, but me and my husband have been renovating our house, and its summer.. so I find it hard to stay indoors and paint.

I'm really hoping to finish her before we go on vacation next week. I have so many work in progress pictures of the painting, but she's so close to being finished, I think it would be best if I wait until she's completed to post her.

Guess that's all for now..

She's done!!!

I'm in such a good mood today, I finished the 'Water Goddess' for my series of the elements.. and she turned out exactly how I wanted!!

I'm planning on starting the Fire element next.. I already have the sketch done for her, I just need to tweak it a bit.. and then I'll be painting her. Earth will be last, I have a picture in my mind of what she will look like, and I'll probably start sketching her soon..

I get more excited with every painting I do, I'm so addicted to watercolor.. and with each painting I can see my skill improving, I've only bee using watercolor for 9 months.. and I will admit it was frustrating trying to learn on my own.. but it definitely worth the effort, and the patience.
As you can see from the photos below of the painting in progress.. it takes many many layers of paint to get it built up to what the finished product is.. I probably put about 5 layers on the hair alone.. the skin was more layers, starting with very light washes. I'll try to keep my camera close by for the next few paintings, so those who are interested can see the process.
Bye for now :)

Well I'm still working on the mermaid for the 'water element'.. This is a picture I took a few days ago.. just starting the hair (her hair is actually right down her back and swirling above her), I've since done several more layers of paint on the hair and I've almost got it done now. I think I might wait until I'm completely finished the painting to post any more pictures.. its too close to being finished now. :-)

I've got a few new necklaces for sale on the website, glass tile necklaces featuring my most recent paintings (Air Goddess, Eternal, Fairy Blessings).

Soon my necklaces will be available for sale at a market in Sydney, CB... I'll post the location soon.. my Aunt will be selling them for me at her table :) I'm very excited to have them available for sale locally near my hometown! She is so awesome for doing this for me !!

I've recently joined artwanted.com , its a site to display your artwork, and sell if you want.. right now I've only have a gallery on there, I have my art for sale on my website and some on Etsy... I'll see how that goes, then I might start selling on artwanted.com later on. I'm trying to get the most exposure on the web that I can.. if anyone has any ideas, please don't hesitate to let me know :)

Well I guess that's all for now...

Butterfly Dreams

I've updated my website with a new page called OOAK (one of a kinds).
Here I have the 3 pendants I was talking about in my last post.
I loved this particular pendant so much that I was inspired to paint a small 5x7 painting to go along with it.. I called it Butterfly dreams. ( I was actually half asleep when I thought of the idea for the painting)..
I hope everyone likes it, I have it on my website and it is for sale in my Etsy store.

new stuff

I just love one of a kind objects.. when I was at the farmers market in Old Strathacona on the weekend, I bought some crystals and stones from a gem dealer at the market. I was just going to keep them, since I love anything sparkly and beautiful (doesn't every girl).. but then I thought they would make beautiful one of a kind pieces of jewelry.
It's going to be very hard to part with them, but I think that everyone will like them, so I'll be selling them on my Etsy shop once I take some photos of them.
So far I've made 3 pendants, and if I sell them, I'll keep an eye out for more pretty shinny things to make more!

I really don't like showing my work before its finished, but I'm really excited about this next painting I'm working on.. its far from finished, but I have the face and skin mostly done, and I think she looks too beautiful to keep to myself... so here she is ... The Water Goddess for my series of paintings of the Elements..

First post ever...

Hello Everyone.. well this is a new adventure for me.. I've never blogged before!
I decided to add this link to my website to keep everyone who wants to know informed about
whats going on in my life :P

I guess I'll start with saying thank you for visiting my website, I hope you enjoy my photography and the fantasy art that I am so passionate about.
I am currently working on a set of 4 paintings of the four Elements.. Air, Fire, Earth and Water. It is a collection of goddesses which represent these elements.
The Air Goddess is all finished and posted on my website already. I'm working on the Water goddess.. which is a mermaid... and I'm really pleased with how its coming along. Its definitely going to be one of my more complicated pieces so far.

Here's a photo of my painting Air Goddess :)
